Visa Conditions
Variation of Conditions (VOC)
Circumstances change. If you hold a New Zealand visa and your situation has shifted (new employer, new course, different study location), you may be able to apply for a Variation of Conditions rather than starting a fresh visa application. We can advise you on whether a VOC is the right step and handle the application for you.
What You Can Vary
Student Visa Holders
- Change the course you are studying
- Change your education provider
- Change the location of your study
- Add permission to work part-time during term
- Add permission to work full-time during holidays
Work Visa Holders
- Change your occupation
- Change your employer
- Change your place of employment
- Add permission to study part-time
Important: If you hold an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and wish to change your employer or occupation, you will generally need to apply for a new visa rather than a VOC. Contact us to confirm what applies to your situation.
Visitor Visa Holders
- Study part-time (up to 3 months)
- Undertake seasonal work in horticulture or viticulture
Variation of Travel Conditions
If you hold a student, work, or visitor visa and want to leave New Zealand and return under the same conditions, you can apply for a variation of travel conditions. This allows you to travel without your current visa conditions changing.
Need to Change Your Visa Conditions?
Applying for the wrong type of variation, or missing a step, can create complications with your current visa. We will tell you exactly what to apply for and handle it correctly.
